Eliminating oral habits from thumb sucking, pacifier use, blankets, nails anything that is non-nutritious sucking is a habit that needs to stop immediately!
Once the tongue position goes to the correct location the need for objects in the mouth will no longer be needed. There is a "Spot" where the tongue naturally should rest and when the tongue is in the "Spot" equilibrium is created and the need for any other object is no longer necessary.
